For free diving and snorkelling enthusiast this experience is next level. The diversity of fish and coral is arguably second to none. Many of the world’s top marine biologists come here to study and discover new species of fish because of the diverse microclimates underwater here.

We offer underwater cave dives and volcano dives for those keen to take their diving to the next level and experience new terrains underwater.

At Driftwood lodge we are currently building a 25metre lap pool built into a cave. The water from the water turbine will enter a waterfall descending a 2 metre drop in front of a cave. Natural stalactite throughout, the water fills a 25 metre lap pool looking over the ocean.

This has been purpose built for free-diving training to assist guests with confidence to free dive in caves, as we know that it can be quite daunting for some – and we’re here to build you up. This is the only purpose-built free diving facility in the southern pacific islands.

We conduct our own Padi, AIDA 2 Star as well as Open Water in free-diving courses on site. We can organise by request (minimum 4 people) or join us for our next course.

The next course will be in November with Dive Master and Underwater Photographer Scott Wilson from Byron Bay, Australia.  Scott who has created a combined free diving course that shows you how to get up and close to aquatic animals with your camera through the Art and Philosophy of free-diving.
